Christmas 2013

Christmas 2013 was the first year we spent the holiday alone.  We were excited to continue some of the traditions we started last year, especially since Liam is at an age where he can remember some of them.  We went to see a totally awesome Christmas light display located about 15 minutes from us.  The family puts together a huge display synchronized to 5 different Christmas songs.  It is such a big deal that we waited nearly an hour in our car before we got close enough to see the lights.  Was it worth it?  Halfway through the display Liam said "Can we do this again sometime?"

Our plan Christmas Eve was to attend the free day at the Children's museum as we did last year but a combination of an invite to a friend's for Christmas Eve dinner and a desire to keep the children well rested for Christmas day led to the decision to skip that tradition for the year.

Christmas morning was of course filled with magic.  We started with Santa presents and then took a break for breakfast.  The nice thing about staying home on Christmas is you can pace yourselves with presents and take your time to enjoy each one.  Everyone was completely spoiled and then 2 days later my parents came for Christmas Part II!  Personally I think Grandma Utah and Grandma & Grandpa Jensen are waaay better than Santa Clause.  Christmas afternoon consisted of G-chatting with Spencer's family and making Lasagna for dinner.
The day after Christmas Spencer and I came down with a stomach virus, which was awful, but we were grateful it didn't strike on Christmas day.  We were also thankful the kids received several new movies to keep them occupied.  My parents arrived the next day and more than made up for the boring day before.
